Edge I
SUMMARY
“Remarkable performance” – Dag Pike
The Edge is proof of wave-piercer concept. Built in 1993, she has done the passage between St. Martin and Saba or St. Barth’s daily, in what is considered some of the toughest of daily conditions. Dag Pike, editor of Work Boat World, author of nautical books and navigator on Richard Branson’s Atlantic conquests wrote “Remarkable performance” in an article about her.
TESTIMONIAL
We had Edge I built by Gold Coast Yachts in 1994, a new and innovative design of wave-piercer in this area of the Caribbean. We needed a ferry boat capable of handling the rough seas between St Maarten and St Barts, and most especially between St Maarten and Saba. Edge I surpassed our expectations in handling the waters and has succeeded in being the best boat in our fleet.
With a capacity of 47 passengers and three crew, the ride to St Barts 20 miles away is just 45 minutes, Saba at 28 miles is 80 minutes. This gives us the “edge” on our competitors.
